2006 Vuelta a España Announced, and an Interview with Oscar Sevilla

I'm a huge cycling fan, and lucky for me, the Costa Blanca tends to get it's share of big events like the Vuelta a España and the Vuelta Comunidad Velenciana.

The Vuelta

They recently announced the route for the 2006 Vuelta a España and it looks like it won't be passing close to home. Unlucky, but it makes for a great excuse to travel, and stages 18 and 19 in Granada and Jaen look to be good excuses for a trip!

Mr Sevila

One of Spain's current top riders is Oscar Sevilla, who hails not too far from Alicante. He has been having a hard go of it lately after crashing in the World Championships in 2004 in Hamilton, Canada, and Cyclingnews has printed a recent interview with the super-friendly baby-faced cyclist.

I hope that he does get back into form, he is not only a great talent, but he always smiles at the fans during the pre-race sign-in, and never minds saying hello and stopping for a photo (not that I like to harass the riders).
