The Costa Blanca: What is it and Where is it?
The coastal provinces of Spain each have their own special name for their coastline, and the Costa Blanca belongs to the province of Alicante.
Not just a coastline
Like the Costa Calida (Murcia) and the Costa Brava (northern Catalonia), the Costa Blanca is a name given to a coastline of a Spanish province. In practice, however, the name can be and is used to refer to the entire province of Alicante. When people say the interior of the Costa Blanca
, they mean inland Alicante.
Where exatcly is the Costa Blanca?
The Costa Blanca forms part of the Comunidad Valenciana, which is made up of three provinces: Alicante to the south, Valencia in the middle, and Castellón to the north. As you can see in the map below, the province of Alicante lies in the south-eastern coastline of Spain, along the Mediterranean sea.

You can find out more about Alicante in Wikipedia, and more about the Comunidad Valenciana on the official website, which has many languages available including English.
